Abigail’s Footsteps charity was launched in 2010 by parents Jo and David Ward following the death of their daughter Abigail Ward who was stillborn at 41 weeks gestation. As part of their mission the charity wanted to provide healthcare professionals with bereavement care training and support to ensure that bereaved parents receive the highest standard of care, following the death of a much loved baby.

In 2020, to commemorate Abigail’s Footsteps 10th anniversary year, the charity announced the launch of  ‘Abigail’s Angels Bereavement Training’. Bereavement Training International were delighted to be asked to deliver this fully funded training for professionals and have continued to work with Abigail’s Footsteps, delivering both in person and online baby loss training to thousands of healthcare professionals across the UK.

Teddy’s Wish charity was set up by parents Jennifer and Chris Reid following the tragic loss of their son, Edward Louis Reid in 2014. Edward was a victim of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), formerly known as Cot Death. It was the most devastating loss imaginable.

The charity aims to give hope, help and support to other grieving families and to fund research into the causes of baby loss.

Since 2021 Teddy’s Wish have been supporting and funding baby loss training sessions for doctors nurses and midwives, both online and at hospitals across the UK.  Bereavement Training International are delighted to work in partnership with this amazing charity.

4Louis charity was set up by the family of Louis Robert Joseph following his tragic stillbirth in 2009 4Louis are dedicated to providing support and comfort to anyone affected by miscarriage, stillbirth, and the death of a baby or child. As a charity they believe that access to excellent bereavement training is vital for any healthcare professional who will find themselves caring for a bereaved family. 4Louis have been generously supporting and funding Bereavement Training Internationals  training workshops for professionals working in NHS trusts around the UK.

Working in partnership with Petals, the baby loss counselling charity, Bereavement Training International  has designed a bespoke two-stage training programme for specialist health professionals interested in working with parents following the death of a baby.

Providing psychological support to parents following the death of a baby or child can be an emotionally charged and challenging aspect of the work of a counsellor or therapist. Our expertise and evidence base make this the leading training course in this field for any counsellor, psychotherapist, or perinatal mental health practitioner working with bereaved parents. This specialist training programme, developed by Petals CEO Karen Burgess and Paula Abramson, principal and founder of Bereavement Training International, enables therapists and counsellors to create a safe space for parents to express their feelings of fear, anxiety, guilt, shame and anger, helping them to live alongside their grief and feel more able to cope in the world.
